Lona was laid to rest February 2, 2018, in the Highland Cemetery in Glasgow, Montana. Yvonne “Tillie” Cox-Hopkins our beautiful and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt went to be with the Lord on February 2, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point, Montana.
She was born July 24, 1931 to Joseph and Julia (Grandchamp) Cox at home in Frazer, Montana.
Visitation will be Thursday February 9, 2018 from 6 – 8pm at the Bell Chapel.
Services will be Saturday February 10, 2018 at the Frazer Community Hall with a viewing at am and the service beginning at pm.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Vivian Watson, her sister Kitty Hollifield, grandson Jayson Moore, and nephew Dakota Wood.
Survivors include her daughter Brandy (Tim) Thatcher of Hubbard, Dawn Moore of Missoula, and son James Piel of Malone; sister, Donnice Sorrell of West, Texas; sister Sherry (Cliff) Wood of West, Texas; and brother Don Watson of St.
Tillie attended school in Frazer, Montana, then she went on to cosmetology school in Chicago.
She also worked at Johnnie Café for numerous years as a cook and waitress. She taught herself to make star blankets which she hand sewed because she said they looked better.
On September 24, 1954, Wesley Frederic Cool joined their family. She was very well liked and respected to all who knew her upbeat, endearing personality. They had homes next to each other in Lomita, California. Marie in the late 80’s, was a snow bird, going to California in the winters. Marie a couple of weeks each summer, and before you knew it, Lona moved here in April 1994.
Upon Fred’s dad’s sudden death in December 1954, the Cools lived in Larslan, Montana during the farming season to help with the family farm. She loved 4-Bears Casino and loved going there with her friend Audrey Sands. Growing up in the city, she simply loved Montana, even when her health failed and she couldn’t get out of her house.
Fred’s relationship with Jesus Christ was the most important decision in his life. Fred believed that it was important to read his Bible and pray at the beginning of every day. Cool, you and your family were automatically added to his prayer list. A cremation has taken place and a memorial service will follow at a later date in Glasgow, Montana. Preceding Lona in death was her grandfather Leslie Russel Hanson, Sr., her husband Paul Highfill; daughter Kitty (Eileen) Karr Stockdale; son Tim Karr; brother L.
